Background:
On April 1, 2021, in response to the COVID-19 Pandemic, the Ohio
Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS) implemented permanent
transitional pandemic rules to ensure that children continued to be safe in
child care settings. These rules reflected guidance from the Ohio Department of
Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The transitional child care center pandemic rules were to be in
effect until the Governor of Ohio rescinded the state of emergency and/or
directed ODJFS to return to full child care center requirements.
The state of emergency was rescinded on June 18, 2021. The
following rules will be archived and removed from the child care manual on July
30, 2023.
Rescinded Rules:
5101:2-12-02.2 "Transitional Pandemic Requirements for a
Licensed Child Care Center"
5101:2-12-02.3 "Temporary Pandemic School-Age Child Care
Centers"
